Seeing that we are ‘renovating’, which is an inadequate word for the work that we have to do on our house, we have been spending an inordinate amount of time at the hardware store. Staring, dazed up the nail, screw, nut and bolt isle during the week, I thought that I should probably not walk away without the supplies to create one of Anni Albers washer necklaces. They were very quick to make, each one taking only half an hour to thread. One could fit right in to any home reno wearing a bunch of these. Quite chic!

A couple of weeks ago one of my girlfriends had a party and as I’m not really the gift giving type, merely because I find it very difficult to find the ‘right’ gift and usually agonise over its usefulness, I decided to make a cake. Naturally, the cake was of the least priority to the dressing but nonetheless, it worked out. A happy birthday surprise!
Cake: moelleux. sliced, served hot and doused with real vanilla ice cream.
Dressing: 100% cotton of varying light weights. Fabric pieces painted with stiffener, cut into shape and sewn together.
